Rashmi’s Story: Because Everyone Deserves a Slice
Most people never have to think about cake. It’s just there—at birthdays, weddings, celebrations. You show up, you eat cake, and you enjoy the moment.
But what if you couldn’t?
That was my son, Aditya. A strict vegetarian, he watched his friends celebrate, candles flickering, laughter filling the room—while he sat there, left out. No slice. No moment of joy.
As a mother, that broke my heart. No one should feel excluded from something as simple as cake.
So I started baking. A small, homemade egg-free cake, just for him. Not because I wanted to start a business, but because I wanted my son to feel like he belonged. I began sending him to birthday parties with his own cake, so he wouldn’t have to sit out.
And then something surprising happened.
His friends started choosing his cake over the one the birthday families had ordered.
Parents asked, “Where did you buy this?” Kids came back for second and third slices. It wasn’t just good—it was better. That’s when I realized:
This wasn’t just about my son.
How many people out there—kids, adults, families—were missing out on life’s sweetest moments because of an allergy, a dietary choice, or a restriction they didn’t choose?
And so, Rashmi’s Bakery was born.
Today, we sell thousands of egg-free, nut-free, vegan cakes and desserts on a weekly basis; every piece is hand-made with the same love and passion I have for my son. I strongly believe that every person, irrespective of his or her dietary preference, has a right to an amazingly tasty cake.
Because cake isn’t just a dessert. It’s a symbol of joy, of belonging, of celebration. And no one should ever have to sit out.
